WHAT TO WATCH is a twice-monthly film review programme on the cinemas of the British and African Diaspora.

WHAT TO WATCH (working title) has been developed out of a need for a wider dissemination of information about black independent cinema and
Filmmaking. It will be from the perspective and experiences of Black moving image practitioners particularly based in the U.K. And will cover other views from practitioners from the US and Africa

It also creates dialogue on the issues that concern filmmakers in these regions such as difficulties in generating funding and the challenges of film distribution.

The program includes interviews with pioneer and new Black filmmakers, reviews of the latest films independently produced in and out of the U.K box office. There will be a news feature, which will inform viewers about independent screenings that take place and the latest films coming out of the UK, Western and Southern Africa, together with competitions and giveaways. Short film showcase will create more awareness about the work of short film directors and emerging talent who will be interviewed and their films screened as part of the program.

The program exists to make black shorts and feature films accessible to the wider public. OBE TV has a core audience in the black community, which comprises of mainly Africans from the continent and those from Europe. The program targets men and women across a wide section of ethnic backgrounds between the ages of 16 - 50. It will be an educative tool to young people between 14 -17 as it will be a positive element to see positive representations of themselves in the media which in turn can affirm their identity.
