Talented Stockton-based arts collective Phoenix Art Group exhibition round-up....
Their most recent work was shown at the Arc with a grand opening taking place at the Stockton venue on 20th October. Phoenix are really keen to involve everyone in art and the event saw the launch of a design competition which invited budding artists to design a postcard size leaflet for them. The group has been working together on Collagraphic Prints, and as the name suggests the prints are a form of Collage. It is a direct and understated process that dissolves the need to be too intentional. They have also had the opportunity to develop individual plates to print from. The resulting prints will use embossed paper to accentuate the subtlety of the process. They exhibited this work throughout October 2006. The design competition invited everyone to have a stab at designing a 6ins x 4ins leaflet, with the theme set out in the rules. The winning entry received a prize of an art set and will be used by the Phoenix Art Group for publicity purposes.
