FourDocs, the broadband channel for documentary, is showing short documentaries with compelling female subjects at a special event as part of the 4th Halloween Short Film Festival in January 2007. The films, which are made by men or women, are about women who define their own terms, and the focus of the screening will be on independence and DIY culture. We’re interested in subjects who surprise and surpass gender roles, whether involved with traditionally male-dominated pursuits or by reclaiming traditionally feminine activities. Films might be about women inspiring with their independence now, or historical looks at ladies who've set the DIY pace in their chosen vocation or art form.
