LIFT courses are part financed by the European Social fund. They are aimed at self-employed artists and designers, and those working for SME’s, and are free to those eligible

 

 

Courses are free to those eligible, which is assessed in 2 ways:
Firstly the participant must be either unemployed, self-employed, or working for an SME (a company will less than 250 employees).
Secondly eligibility is assessed via postcode, which will be checked prior to enrollment.

* The first course undertaken is free to those eligible. Courses are allocated on a first come
first served basis. Further courses may be available, but will incur a contribution towards materials. (Priority will be given to those who are attending their first course.)

Please Note: Some course sizes will be restricted due to facility, and health and safety issues.
Minimum numbers must be achieved - courses could be cancelled through lack of interest.

Subject to demand, courses will run weekday evenings 6 - 9pm, for 10 weeks, week commencing 23.04.07.


Introductory Courses:

Introduction to Calligraphy: An introduction to the history and theory of western calligraphy,
studied through practical demonstrations and workshops.

Introduction to Photoshop: An introduction to digital image manipulation, studied through
a series of demonstrations and exercises. (Computer experience / knowledge essential.)

Introduction to Screenprinting: An introduction to screenpinting, studied through practical
demonstrations and workshops.

Introduction to Etching: An introduction to etching, studied through practical demonstrations
and workshops.

Introduction to Photo Lithography: An introduction to photolithography, studied through
practical demonstrations and workshops.

Introduction to Printing without Presses: An introduction to experimental printing processes,
studied through practical demonstrations and workshops.

Introduction to Video: An introduction to video editing software AVID Express, studied through a
series of demonstrations and exercises.

Introduction to Web Design: An introduction to designing, building and launching websites.
(Computer experience / knowledge essential.)


Intermediate Courses:

Sound and Music Therapies in Practice: Aimed at those from a health or social care background -
skills development in sound and music therapy. (Related experience / knowledge essential.)


Advanced Courses:

Professional Practice: Aimed at those who have recently become self employed or are thinking
about setting up their own business -- an opportunity to research and develop aspects of
professional practice and self employment.

Self Negotiated Printmaking: Aimed at those who already have printmaking skills - an opportunity
to research and develop further aspects of their printmaking portfolio.
(Printmaking experience / knowledge essential.)

Drawing: Aimed at creative professionals who wish to brush up their skills, or get back to basics.

Life Drawing: Aimed at creative professionals who wish to brush up their skills, or get back to basics.
