Gateshead born artist Lyn Hagan has hired a plane used to train Russian cosmonauts so that three artists can film their work at zero gravity.
Now Lyn is offering three tickets to join them to help fund the project. Tickets cost 5000 dollars and include travel to Moscow and hotels. The flights are likely to happen in september. Zero gravity is created by flying to 26,000 feet then plummeting down. Lyn's project takes her pet cat Major Tom in a special cage into which a mouse is released.
The other artists are Australian Stelarc, known for growing a stem cell ear on his arm, and the UK's Luke Jerram. It's planned to screen the documentary material in Trafalgar Square and Lyn is also seeking a Tyneside based screening. More details: www.lifeinspace.org |
